The Do’s of House Cleaning with Vinegar
1. Windows
There is no need to buy a window cleaning detergent, instead use vinegar. Take a gallon of water, pour 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and pour the mixture in a spray bottle. Start spraying all over your window and wipe it off with a dry cloth to get clean sparkling windows.
2. Dishwashers
Use the vinegar to wash the dishwashers. Run the dishwasher as usual without any detergent or dry heat. Now add the large measuring glass with 2 cups of vinegar in it to the running dishwasher. The appliance will clean on its own.
3. Towels
When your towel feels starchy and stiffy, you can soak them in a water-filled washing machine and add half a cup of white vinegar to it. Let it spin without detergent. You will get a soft fluffy towel back as the excess residue of detergent which made it stiff would have gone.
4. Carpet
You can use white vinegar on all kinds of carpet stains like wine. Mix 1 spoon of vinegar to 1 spoon of detergent in 2 cups of warm water. Use a cloth to apply the mixture on the stain slowly by bloating and dabbing it with dry cloth too in turns. The stains will vanish.
5. Supermarket Produce
To remove any kind of v=bacteria from the vegetables and fruits you can wash them with vinegar mixed water. 3 cups of water and 1 cup of vinegar will do the job. You can put the mixture into a spray bottle and spray it all. You can rinse the produce in water before use.
The Don’ts of Cleaning House with the Vinegar
1. Granite and Marble Countertops
Since vinegar is acidic and natural stones are natural, there are chances that they get etched with too much acidity. So warm water and mild detergent is the best solution.
2. Stone Floor Tiles
Bathrooms and the tiles are not meant for harsh acidic cleaning. The tiles might get chipped off or decolorise. Ammonia also needs to be avoided. Only warm water. Light brush and mild detergent need to be used.
3. Egg stains or spills
Do not clean egg spill with vinegar. If you try to remove egg stains with vinegar the egg will stick to the floor much firmly like in a poached egg.
4. Irons
Eclectic devices like irons can go all bonkers if vinegar is used to clean them.
